HTC Incredible in Canada?

With the raw power and beautiful design of the HTC Incredible released not too long ago on Verizon in the USA, is there any chance we Canadians will see it? As of right now, there is no announced time frame for the HTC Incredible to get a GSM-compatible counter-part here in Canada or Europe, so unfortunately you cannot import a Verizon HTC Incredible to Canada. The Verizon HTC Incredible phones will not work on any Canadian cellphone carrier’s networks.

Apple sues HTC; Android named in complaints

Apple just released a press release stating that they are suing HTC for multiple patent infringements, and hope to get a permanent injunction against HTC to disallow them to import and sell their devices in the USA (HTC devices would not be barred from Canada). Expect a legal battle that will last years with Apple’s various broad patents that apply to basically every smartphone on the market today, with practically 0% chance of the patents actually holding any ground in court…

“CUPERTINO, California—March 2, 2010—Apple® today filed a lawsuit against HTC for infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone’s user interface, underlying architecture and hardware. The lawsuit was filed concurrently with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.” – Apple.com

HTC Legend to debut next month

The previously leaked HTC Legend is coming to dutch carrier KPN next month. It will feature a 5mp camera, 600mhz processor, 256mb of ram, and of course a micro sd card for added expandable storage. The device will also feature a beautiful 3.2 inch HVGA AMOLED screen. This device has HTC’s well known “chin” design, which is either loved or hated depending on who you talk to. There is also the newer style “trackpad” design instead of the regular android trackball that we’ve all known. All other features such as GPS, wifi, and bluetooth are pretty standard on smartphones. There is currently no additional info on pricing. More pictures below…

HTC Scorpion Leaked?

A code string linked anonymously on Tuesday to AndroidSPIN suggests that HTC may be in the process of developing a new Android smartphone rumored to be released under the name of “Scorpion,” also known as to HTC employees as the “Olympian.” The Scorpion would use the 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which would give it the ability to play 1080p video. It would also use the FRE65C build of Android 2.2, an update which Google has codenamed “Froyo.” WiMAX is referenced in a line of the leaked code, suggesting that Sprint may support this new Android. Engadget also speculates that this could be a smartbook or a “spiritual successor to the Shift.”

There is no word of an estimated release date as of yet, but with its rumoured processor still very new, it would most likely be a long wait.

Could it be legitimate? The code leak was submitted in pure text, so it is possible that it is just a rumour….

HTC Incredible shown off, coming to Verizon soon

One of HTC’s latest handhelds, the Incredible, was recently photographed and some specs released. It’s specs are similar to that of the Nexus one. It features a 1ghz snapdragon processor, 256mb of ram, dual flash, and HTC’s Sense UI. It does lack a physical keyboard though. Here are some pictures and a video of it in action…

Better than the Milestone/Droid? Only time will tell… also, I found the way HTC watermarks their pre-release devices interesting…
