There’s been some anger over Rogers first deciding to disable the 3G internet of anyone with an HTC Dream that hasn’t update to their newest ROM, which fixes a 911 bug where 911 calls wouldn’t go through unless the GPS was disable. They also took the liberty of upgrading the SPL and patching the kernel so once you apply their update, you CANNOT root your phone. Now reports have came in that state that Rogers has now cut off outgoing calls to any un-updated phones…The voice cutoff even cuts off calls to 911! Really safe there, Rogers.

There has also been talk about how you can get your outgoing calling back, just ask the Rogers customer service rep to re-enable your outgoing calling and they should remove the calling redirect for you.

What if you don’t want to update to their locked down ROM, but still want the 911 bug fixed, your data back, and the annoying text messages to stop? Just check out our post on rooting or upgrading your Rogers dream radio.

Can anyone else who has not updated confirm that your calls are being redirected to Rogers customer support?
